Welcome to the RRPictureArchives.NET contributor site of Joe Hughes.
A native of Oak Creek, WI, I have lived in Springfield, Missouri for 26 years. My father was a signal maintainer on the Milwaukee Road and SOO Line from 1953 to 1992. As a kid, I tagged along with Dad on "trouble calls" every chance I got, resulting in awesome father-son bonding and (of course) lots of orange and black trains roaring up and down the double track Chicago-Milwaukee main, at all hours of the day and night, and in all kinds of weather. Hence my interest in Milwaukee Road units and their later careers.
It was my good fortune to be located in a major BNSF hub at a time when one could see just about every type of locomotive if you waited by the tracks long enough. From 2001 to about 2010 I shot pictures of them all - from GP7s to SD70ACEs... and then I got bored. I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but the current crop of Dash Nines and SD70s does absolutely nothing for me. These days, BNSF flat switches Springfield Yard with a SD60M. Oh, the humanity.
Enioy the memories... and thanks, Tim, for making this awesome site available!
